Just the beginning

Hello world, My name is Camille. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with Narcolepsy in 2010 after having symptoms for nearly a year. I am recently married and I have two beautiful children. I decided to start this blog to share my experiences as a narcoleptic. After years of hoping, and being unsuccessful to find people who share a similar story, I felt alone, sometimes crazy living with this often misunderstood condition. The lack of public awareness is astonishing, and also a little bit frightening. It seems as social media, technology, and reality TV are becoming increasingly popular and growing industries, the less people are paying attention to anything that truly matters; human interaction, true knowledge, and passion for anything more than that what your favorite celebrity ate for lunch.  I recently decided, why not take advantage of this and use it to raise awareness for Narcolepsy and also to let my fellow sufferers know that you are not alone in this.  It was only recently on this amazing blog that I found with an actual active user(I can't tell of you all of the inactive ones I have come across), that I am not alone in this. Someone was and is willingly talking about this, no-holds-barred. It was a breath of fresh air for me, a sigh of relief, someone I could actually communicate with that didn't roll their eyes or pretend to listen, pretend to understand,  this is a person who TRULY UNDERSTOOD! I was so ready to just give up hope, especially after my recently developing symptoms(which I will delve in to later), and then I found that blog. As her blog has been an inspiration for me to start up this little project, I too, hope I can inspire you, or someone out there to do the same; if not, just to make you aware that you are not alone. We are all in this together, not just my fellow narcoleptic's, but our supporters and those willing to learn more and do more to raise awareness. For me, this is just the beginning; the beginning of something more meaningful than the life I have been living. I hope reading this can inspire such new beginnings in you. "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Thank you for reading.

Till next time,
Camille

"We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do." -Ghandi
